Spacing and positioning is established to idealize the final prosthetic result.
All graduates of the Engel M1 program are certainly capable of achieving these results and placing their dental implants in proper position. There is no reason to refer these cases out anymore.
Dr. Engel teaches working from the “crown down,” so visualizing the final result prior to any surgical intervention will maximize the final emergence profile.

The Engel protocol taught in M1 is strictly followed insuring that the implants are placed to the crest of the ridge. Because the implants are torqued to 35Ncm, taller healing abutments can be placed, eliminating the need for anesthesia upon uncovering for the final impression.

When ready to seat the implant retained crowns, the healing abutments are removed showing healthy, pink gingival cuffs and an adequate band of attached gingiva.

The implant crowns are seated, torqued to 35Ncm and evaluated for occlusion. The access holes are filled with a cotton pellet and composite, making them disappear to the eye of the patient.
